KINSHASA – Cercle Elaïs in Kinshasa is the place where the revised operational framework for Child DDR (Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration) by the Disarmament, Demobilization, Community Recovery and Stabilization Program (PDDRCS) is presented today.
National Coordinator Tommy Tambwe Ushindi opened the workshop before the Special Advisor to the Head of State on Youth and Sexual Violence, UNICEF, FARDC and PNC officers, national and international structures of child protection, government services in the field of children as well as experts from the PDDRCS.
It is essential to remove children from the FARDC and armed groups; their place is in the family. The revised tool targets the prevention, removal, care and sustainable community reintegration of children associated with armed forces and groups. This component CAAFAG (Children associated with armed forces and groups) is an integral part of the national strategy of the PDDRCS.
