KINSHASA – After the visit of the current President of France, Emmanuel Macron, it is the turn of former President Nicolas Sarkozy who arrived in Kinshasa this Wednesday, March 22, 2023 for a private visit of 24 hours. Mr. Sarkozy was received by the President of the Republic, Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, confirm several sources in Kinshasa.
The meeting took place at the Presidential Palace of Mount Ngaliema where the two personalities shared a friendship dinner.
The same sources inform that this meeting took place at the request of Nicolas Sarkozy. President Tshisekedi agreed to receive the former French president in this strictly private and convivial setting without any reference to any diplomatic initiative.
Note that this is not the first time that a former French president has visited Kinshasa. In September 2022, François Hollande also made a private visit to the DRC which took him to Kinshasa and Bukavu.
