The mayor of Rishon Lezion, Raz Kinstlich, ordered the opening of the public shelters throughout the city following the escalation due to the elimination of the senior Islamic Jihad and other terrorists in Gaza.

In a message to the city’s residents, Kinstlich explained: “Due to the opening of the ‘Dawn’ operation in the south, a short time ago we held a situation assessment, with all the relevant factors for an emergency in the municipality.

“At this point, the Home Front Command instructed us not to open shelters or stop any other activity in the city, but just like we did in the ‘Guardian of the Walls’ operation, I currently assumed that all the shelters in the city would be opened so that we would be prepared, as always, for any scenario.

The mayor added: “For those who have a shelter at home – it is important to check that the shelter is accessible and ready to stay when needed. I ask you to be vigilant, listen to the instructions of the Home Front Command through the app and follow the reports in the media.
