Kitesurf and Wingfoil World Cups from September 29 to October 6 in Dakhla

Some 17 countries are participating in these two global events, with a prize money of 40,000 euros, namely Australia, Bulgaria, Brazil, Canada, Switzerland, Cape Verde, Germany, Spain, France, Great Britain, Guadeloupe, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Portugal, the United States, in addition to Morocco, indicated the Association “Lagon Dakhla for the development of sport and cultural animation”.

These countries, adds the same source in a press release, will be represented by 70 athletes selected from among the best kitesurfers and wingfoilers.

In the Kitesurf category (men), Airton Cozzolino, James Carew, Matchu Lopes, Sebastian Ribeiro, Pedro Matos and Gabriel Benetton, as well as Moroccan champions Ali Bekkali and Maji Mounim will be there, the same source continued.

For their part, Capucine Delannoy and Camille Losserand are among the most prominent international participants.

In the Wingfoil category (men), Malo Guenole, Cash Berzolla, Wesley Brito and Hugo Marin are among the top competitors, as are Nia Suardiaz, Elena Moreno and Bowien Van der Linden in the women’s category.

Two actions will accompany these two competitions. The first is the organization of a national championship bringing together around twenty Moroccan competitors, competing to obtain wildcards, allowing them to participate in the world competition.

The second is the establishment of a village dedicated to raising awareness and preserving the oceans, under the slogan “Protect what you love, save the ocean”.

The village will involve local youth, including students and pupils from local schools. It will host educational workshops, local initiatives and interactive and educational activities to address issues related to the protection and preservation of the marine environment.

The aim of these events is to maintain Dakhla’s positioning as a world reference for Kitesurfing capable of organizing high-level events.

The aim is also to make the Pearl of the South of the Kingdom a place committed to preserving the environment, through participation in the campaign “Protect what you love, save the ocean”.

This major sporting event is part of the events organized by the Lagon Dakhla Association, in order to highlight all the natural, sporting, tourist and human potential of Dakhla and the entire region.
