BRIXANONE. He spent 10 days locked in a 5 meter deep well, in the dark, without water or food, before being recovered and saved by the firefighters. A story with a happy ending that of Rocco, a brindle cat of about a year old adopted by a family from Millan in a local cattery. The animal, as also reported in our pages in recent days, had disappeared from the area of Via Oswald von Wolkenstein.
His family had searched for him for days, launching appeals throughout the area but without any success. «After about 10 days after the disappearance of our cat, my son wanted to make one last attempt: he took a photo inside an old disused well for condominium fuel, in the hope that the cat had snuck inside – says the father – In the past we had had some suspicions that our animal had ended up in there, but we were never able to look inside because the opening of the well is too narrow and the manhole that closes it is welded to avoid accidental falls inside. My son armed himself with a headlamp and a cell phone and, placing his arms inside the slot, took a photo. With great relief we discovered that in the photo we could see our cat at the bottom of the well.”
«Thanks to the collaboration of some very helpful workers – continues the man – we managed to open the manhole and made an attempt to recover our cat with a ladder. Understandably scared, however, Rocco hid in an even deeper parallel well and here we were forced to alert the Millan firefighters. Thanks to the help of a net, our Rocco was finally recovered safely. Although visibly thinner, the cat is fine and, after a complete visit to the vet, he was able to return to our home to the happiness of the entire family. Rocco is still very scared at the moment and is hiding under the bed. It will certainly take a few days to recover but it is already a true miracle that, after all those days locked in a deep well without water or food, he is still alive.”
