KL Rahul likely to play wicketkeeper at WTC end: Sunil Gavaskar | KL Rahul to play as wicketkeeper in WTC final for India Sunil Gavaskar

Mumbai: Former Indian player Sunil Gavaskar has said that KL Rahul can play as a wicket-keeper batsman for the Indian team in the upcoming World Test Championship final. He said this after the Test series between India and Australia.

The finals will be held on June 7-11. India qualified for the final of the ICC World Test Championship last time out. The match will be held at the Oval Stadium in London, England. India and Australia cricket teams are going to play in this match.

“You can see KL Rahul as a wicketkeeper. If he finds the field as the 5th or 6th batsman at the Oval where the final will be held, it will add strength to the team’s batting order. Because he has played well in England. Scored a century at Lord’s. So you should definitely consider KL Rahul in the playing XI for the finals,” said Gavaskar.

Due to poor form, KL Rahul missed the opportunity from the playing eleven of the Indian team. Gill, who has replaced him as the opener of the Indian team, has been batting well. KS Bharath, another wicket keeper who has been playing as a replacement for Rishabh Pant, played well in the last match of the series against Australia. Whether he gets a chance in the Indian team for the World Test Championship final remains to be seen.
