Sydney: Indian vice-captain KL Rahul’s poor form in the Twenty20 World Cup is facing a lot of criticism. In the first two matches of the Super-12, Rahul was not able to shine with the bat. With this, Rahul is planning to seek the help of Team India’s mental conditioning coach Paddy Upton, reports Inside Sport. Virat Kohli, who had previously sought Upton’s help, had returned to form strongly.

Reportedly, KL Rahul will attend a two-day session with Paddy Upton before the next match against South Africa in the World Cup. According to the report of Inside Sport, the head coach Rahul Dravid and Indian captain Rohit Sharma think that there are no technical problems in Rahul’s game and that the player is facing a mental barrier. Hence, it has been decided to send Rahul along with Upton for an hour-long session for two days.

After coming to Australia for the World Cup, he shone in the warm-up match, but Rahul could not continue that form. In the first match against Pakistan, he was dismissed for 4 runs in Melbourne and scored only 9 runs against Netherlands in Sydney. A pre-match net session at the SCG was to no avail. Virat Kohli, who trained under Paddy Upton in the Asia Cup, came back strong with two consecutive fifties. Kohli continues that form in the World Cup. Rahul is also hoping to return in the same way. The next match between India and South Africa will be in Perth on Sunday.
