A prominent concert promoter is observed by officers purchasing two suspicious bags. Now the man speaks out and shows remorse.
Klaus Leutgeb has made a name for himself as one of the most successful concert organizers. The 54-year-old recently caused a stir with pop superstar Adele’s performances in Munich; The British singer was celebrated by 730,000 fans at several concerts there in August. The Austrian event manager has also organized mega events with stars such as Helene Fischer, Robbie Williams and Andreas Gabalier.
But at Oktoberfest, Leutgeb showed that he doesn’t always have the right instinct. According to the “Bild” newspaper, drug investigators observed him buying two bags of white powder in front of the “Käfer” celebrity tent. After he briefly disappeared into the toilet, the officers were there, checked him and seized the cocaine. Leutgeb was reported.

The manager explained the incident: “I was at the Oktoberfest and was completely drunk that night. A guy approached me and asked if I wanted to buy something.” He admitted that he had acted in a weak state and regretted his decision: “I’m sorry, I deeply regret what I did. Unfortunately, because of all the alcohol, I didn’t have enough control over myself.”
The incident with Leutgeb became public shortly after another celebrity scandal at the Oktoberfest: just on Monday, the former national soccer goalkeeper Jens Lehmann was caught in an alcohol test after visiting the Oktoberfest. The officers noticed a “clear smell of alcohol and an unsteady gait” from the former football star. Lehmann had to hand over his driver’s license. The ex-keeper is said to have previously celebrated wildly at the Oktoberfest in the Schützenfestzelt. He now faces a hefty fine and a long driving ban.
