Knallhart announcement – Union parliamentary group vice demands vaccination – domestic politics

by time news

At the end of 2020, the Union spoke out on the website of the parliamentary group against a “vaccination through the back door”. Now CDU parliamentary deputy Katja Leikert (46) is calling for exactly that: compulsory vaccination – through the front door!

On Twitter, she warns: “It will be very expensive for the majority of us vaccinated (…) if we postpone compulsory vaccination for a longer period of time.”

Leikert is one of the first Union politicians to speak so aggressively in favor of compulsory vaccination. Even Bavaria’s head of state Markus Söder (54, CSU) is more cautious, speaking on Twitter only for a “mandatory vaccination for nursing professions” and writes of a “moral obligation to get vaccinated now.”

Leikert’s party colleague and new NRW Prime Minister Hendrik Wüst (46, CDU) recently spoke out against a general compulsory vaccination. “You shouldn’t rely on solving problems with increasing state pressure,” said Wüst.

With pressure you create counter pressure and scare away “those who might still want to be vaccinated”. He relies on “conviction and common sense, instead of repressive measures”
