Shortly after 11pm on Saturday evening, the police were alerted by SOS about a knife-injured person in the town of Ljugarn on Gotland. The man, who is 45 years old, was found in a wooded area.
– He is seriously injured and has been taken to hospital by ambulance, says Mikael Pettersson, commander at the police’s regional command centre.
The police were able to talk to the plaintiff at the hospital, where it emerged, among other things, that the perpetrator traveled in a car.
– We saw the car a little later near Visby, stopped it and were able to arrest the man undramatically, says Mikael Pettersson.
Man of the same age arrested
The arrested man is also aged 45 and is now suspected of attempted murder.
The suspected crime scene has been cordoned off pending a technical investigation. The police have interviewed witnesses and are now investigating the motive for the stabbing.
– The men knew each other from before, but it is unclear what kind of relationship they have, says Mikael Pettersson.
