Clarence Seedorf has been nominated as a supervisory director by the Supervisory Board for Professional Football of the KNVB. The 46-year-old Seedorf fills the gap that was left after the departure of Han Berger.

Seedorf thanks the KNVB and the Supervisory Board for the trust and appreciation. “As a commissioner, I can share my knowledge and experience with my colleagues within the KNVB with the aim of making a positive contribution to the game that we all love so much.”

KNVB happy with Seedorf’s upcoming arrival

Seedorf’s candidacy pleases Jan Albers, Chairman of the Supervisory Board. ,,It is nice to see that former players of great name want to dedicate themselves to Dutch football. His first priority within the Supervisory Board is, of course, on the technical level of football.”

He continues: ,,We know Clarence not only as a great player, but also as a socially involved person, someone who looks beyond just his own world. This is particularly valuable in a role as a supervisory director. We look forward to working with Clarence.”

The appointment of the members of the Supervisory Board, usually a formality, is carried out by the General Meeting of Professional Football. The next meeting of this meeting is scheduled for June 27.

Seedorf is one of the most successful players in the history of Dutch football. He has won the Champions League no fewer than four times and has played 87 matches for the Dutch national team, including three European Championships and the 1998 World Cup where the Netherlands reached the semi-finals. In addition, he has experience as a coach at clubs such as AC Milan and as the national coach of Cameroon.
