With Kodiyeri’s death, there is no doubt that Keralites have lost the laughing revolutionary, the revolutionary star of harmony that even the critics called it. Kodiyeri’s personality shined impeccably even when he was the second in the VS cabinet and handled all the departments including Home Affairs, Vigilance Tourism. Moreover Kodiyeri Balakrishnan was also a powerful leader who overcame controversial issues in a simple style even at the most complicated time of CPM. Kodiyeribalakrishnan is a person who overcame the difficult phases faced by the party and the ministers through the path of integration and found formulas that could be accepted even by the opposition. His willingness to talk to anyone and his desire to see matters resolved have been proven many times through his friendly demeanor. This departure of the comrade is a great loss not only to the political movement called CPM but also to the general society of Kerala.
