Kolkata: Former principal of Kolkata’s R G Kar Medical College and Hospital, Dr Sandip Ghosh, appeared before the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for the second consecutive day on Saturday for questioning in connection with the alleged rape and murder of a woman doctor. The former principal of the hospital was taken in by the agency on Friday and was questioned till 3 am. An official said Ghosh was made to sit in a room of the CBI office in the CGO Complex here till 9.30 pm, after which his questioning began. Just a few hours after being questioned till late Friday night, Ghosh reached the CBI office for questioning for the second time shortly before 10.30 am on Saturday.Interrogation again in the morning after late night
The official said that in the first round of questioning, former principal Ghosh was asked about his first reaction after getting the news of the woman doctor’s death, whom did he instruct to inform the family and how and who contacted the police. The official said that some answers were evasive. He said that Ghosh was questioned till late Friday night and then he was allowed to go home. Ghosh was asked to appear before CBI officials again on Saturday morning, after which he reached the CBI office on Saturday.
Victim duty for 36 hours or sometimes up to 48 hours
According to the official, Ghosh was also asked about the weekly ‘roster’, according to which the victim was put on duty for 36 hours or sometimes up to 48 hours. Dr Ghosh, who resigned two days after the body was found, had expressed fear of being attacked. After this, his lawyer requested the Calcutta High Court to provide him security. The court had directed him to approach a single bench. The body of the postgraduate trainee doctor was found in the seminar room of RG Kar Hospital on August 9. Police arrested an accused in this connection the next day.
