Local Man Arrested for Abduction of Six-Year-Old Girl
Kollam: Padmakumar, a native of Chatannoor, has been arrested in connection with the abduction of a six-year-old girl from Puyapally. The head of the investigation team, Crime Branch DYSP M.M.Jose, revealed that Padmakumar and his family had committed a similar crime in the past.
While no other complaints have been received against the accused at present, previous information has surfaced during questioning. Route maps of various areas were found in Padmakumar’s diary, including the route from Pooyapally to Chatannoor where the abduction took place.
The accused will be produced in court today based on the custodial application filed by the investigating team. They are seeking a week’s custody to continue with the interrogation, which is set to begin today. Evidence will be collected on Friday or Saturday.
Surveillance camera footage of the routes taken by the accused, including after the abduction and the day after the child was abandoned, has been collected. Additionally, letters have been issued to banks to obtain details of the accused’s loans and other transactions. The investigation team will also record the statement of the mother of the abducted girl, Meenakshiamma, who has come forward against Anithakumari, as well as investigate transactions with private individuals.
The investigation continues as law enforcement seeks to bring justice to the abducted child and her family.
