Activist Vyacheslav Yegorov was sentenced to one year and three months in prison. Such a decision was made by the Kolomna City Court on Thursday, October 14, having found him guilty of repeated violations of the rules for holding the action. The prosecutor’s office asked to sentence the man to 3 years in a general regime colony.

From house arrest to recognizance not to leave

Egorov actively opposes the import of garbage to the Volovichi landfill in Kolomna. A criminal case against the activist was opened on the basis of four administrative cases under the article on violation of the procedure for holding a rally. Egorov was found guilty in three cases, the materials of the fourth were handed over to the investigation.

In January 2019, the man was arrested and spent several months under house arrest. Then the preventive measure was changed to a ban on certain actions, and at the end of 2019 – to a recognizance not to leave.

The article of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation on repeated violations of the rules for holding the action (212.1) is called “Dadinskaya”, since Moscow activist Ildar Dadin became the first convicted under it in 2015.
