Sales of herbal analogues of dairy and meat products in Russia in October 2021 grew by 19% in physical terms and by 18% in monetary terms, according to Kommersant, citing data from NielsenIq analysts. During this period, the turnover of products of animal origin in volume decreased by 1%, and in monetary terms increased by 6%.

Euromonitor International reported that in 2021, sales of this segment could grow by 19%, to 10.6 billion rubles, and in 2022 they will exceed 12 billion rubles. According to the forecast of the Association of Manufacturers of Alternative Food Products (APAPP), the market will grow in 2022 by 20-25%, to 15.5 billion rubles.

Svetlana Bobrova, head of business development at Nielsenq, said that many buyers of milk and meat analogues do not abandon animal products, but reduce their consumption by using alternatives. The market, according to them, may receive additional support from accelerating inflation. Over the past year, meat has risen in price by an average of 12%, and its counterparts – by 4%.

Vkusville said that sales of plant-based meat analogue increased by 18% over the year, plant milk – by 76% due to the expansion of the range and improvement of taste. Azbuka Vkusa reported a stable demand for analogs of meat and milk, and the number of items increased two to three times over the year. Magnit noted that sales of vegetable meat since June in absolute terms have grown by 26%, and milk substitutes since January – by 39%.
