ROMA. The President of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano, Arno Kompatscher met today, at the Viminale, the Minister of the Interior, Matthew Piantedosi to take stock of some of the issues that remained open in previous discussions.
In particular, Kompatscher and Piantedosi talked about the housing needs of law enforcement officers serving in the area but also on the steps to be taken in the coming months – in conjunction with other Ministries – to identify operational solutions in the field of Repatriation detention centres (Cpr).
During the meeting, which was also attended by the General Secretary of the Province, Eros Magnago, the issue raised by the South Tyrolean municipalities regarding checks on suspicious residence declarations (in relation to the property tax) was also addressed.
Progress also for the dialogue between Province and Ministry of the Interior regarding the transportation of historical weapons during celebrations. Regarding the need to strengthen the presence of bilingual personnel in Alto Adige, the minister, who is aware of the importance of the issue, intends to frame it within the scope of a possible new articulation of the competitions for the recruitment of the police force.
The meeting at the Viminale between President Kompatscher and Piantedosi was generally a “profitable and cordial” one, also in view of the imminent visit to Bolzano of the Minister of the Interior, who on that occasion will take part in an initiative that the Councilor for Security and Prevention of Violence Ulli Mair is organizing on the role of the local police.
