– Strengthening win-win cooperation with small and medium-sized enterprises, such as supporting participation of 8 small and medium-sized enterprises in the environmental field in ‘2024 Green Enertech’
“We are leading the spread of ESG management with the Incheon public institution innovation network.”
The Korea Environment Corporation (Chairman Byeong-ok Ahn), under the Ministry of Environment, together with the Incheon Public Institution Innovation Network Institute, supports small and medium-sized enterprises to participate in ‘2024 Green Enertech’ and consult on market development for overseas expansion.
‘2024 Green Enertech’ is Incheon’s only B2B exhibition specializing in the carbon neutral and renewable energy industry, hosted by Incheon Metropolitan City and organized by the Incheon Tourism Organization, and held at Songdo Convensia in Incheon from October 30 to November 1. It happens.
The Incheon Public Institution Innovation Network is a public institution consultative body comprised of four public institutions located in Incheon (Korea Environment Corporation, Sudokwon Landfill Site Management Corporation, Incheon International Airport Corporation, and Incheon Port Authority), and is working for the sustainable economic development of the local community from 2020. Various cooperative projects were promoted.
Last September, the Corporation publicly recruited small and medium-sized businesses wishing to participate in the exhibition and selected a total of eight small and medium-sized businesses, and will support the selected companies with the entire exhibition participation fee (2.4 million won per company, equivalent to a total of 20 million won). We also provide consulting on market development for overseas expansion.
In recognition of its achievements in realizing social responsibility through transparent environmental services, the corporation won the grand prize in the environmental field at the ‘3rd Korea ESG Innovation Awards’ hosted by the Korea Policy Society on the 11th, and held purchase consultations with small and medium-sized businesses, and provided environmental expert mentoring and growth funds. We are continuously promoting various corporate support activities utilizing expertise and know-how accumulated in the environmental field, such as the youth entrepreneurship support project.
Byeong-ok Ahn, Chairman of the Korea Environment Corporation, said, “We will continue to support the growth of small and medium-sized businesses and small business owners through cooperation with local companies such as local governments and the Incheon Public Institution Innovation Network and continue our efforts to revitalize the local economy.”

Interview Between Time.news Editor and Environmental Expert Dr. Jane Park
Editor: Welcome, Dr. Park! Thank you for joining us today. The recent initiative by the Korea Environment Corporation and the Incheon Public Institution Innovation Network to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the ‘2024 Green Enertech’ exhibition is quite fascinating. Can you share your thoughts on the importance of such initiatives for the environmental sector?
Dr. Park: Thank you for having me! I believe this initiative is a crucial step forward in fostering a sustainable future. Supporting SMEs in participating at events like ‘2024 Green Enertech’ not only empowers them to showcase their innovations but also creates a collaborative ecosystem where ideas and best practices can flourish. It encourages smaller players to contribute to the carbon-neutral and renewable energy landscape, which is essential for tackling climate challenges.
Editor: The exhibition is Incheon’s only B2B event focused on the carbon-neutral and renewable energy sector. How significant is the role of such B2B platforms in the growth of environmental businesses?
Dr. Park: B2B exhibitions like this are vital for several reasons. First, they facilitate direct connections between SMEs and potential partners or clients, which can lead to new business opportunities. Additionally, these platforms provide a venue for knowledge exchange, allowing enterprises to learn from each other and industry leaders. This exchange is critical, especially in a rapidly evolving field like renewable energy, where staying ahead requires constant innovation and adaptation.
Editor: The insight into supporting participation for 8 SMEs is impressive. What can be some expected outcomes of this support, and how might it impact the local economy?
Dr. Park: By supporting SMEs, the initiative can lead to a few significant outcomes. For one, it gives these companies a chance to enhance their visibility in the market, potentially leading to increased sales and growth. Moreover, when SMEs succeed, they often reinvest in their local communities, creating jobs and driving economic development. This ripple effect not only benefits the environment but also strengthens the local economy, promoting a sustainable business model.
Editor: The Korea Environment Corporation’s focus on ESG management is another interesting aspect. Can you elaborate on why ESG is important for today’s small and medium enterprises?
Dr. Park: Absolutely! Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) criteria are becoming essential benchmarks for many investors and consumers. For SMEs, adopting ESG practices can enhance their reputation and competitiveness in the market. It’s also about risk management; companies that prioritize sustainability are better positioned to adapt to regulatory changes and market demands. By leading with ESG management, these SMEs not only contribute to a greater cause but also create long-term business resilience.
Editor: The collaboration of multiple public institutions in supporting this initiative is noteworthy. How does inter-agency collaboration enhance the effectiveness of environmental programs?
Dr. Park: Inter-agency collaboration is critical for maximizing resources and expertise. Each agency brings unique strengths to the table, such as regulatory knowledge, infrastructure, or funding. Together, they can design comprehensive programs that address various aspects of sustainability and economic development. This coordinated approach ensures that SMEs receive holistic support, enhancing their chances of success in both local and international markets.
Editor: As we look forward to the event, what advice would you offer to the participating SMEs to ensure they make the most of this opportunity?
Dr. Park: My advice would be to network proactively. Connect with other exhibitors and visitors, attend workshops, and participate in discussions. It’s essential to be open to collaboration and partnerships, as these can lead to innovative projects and shared resources. Also, they should prepare to showcase their unique value propositions clearly. Knowledge and preparation are key; the better they understand their market and competitors, the more effectively they can position themselves.
Editor: Thank you, Dr. Park, for sharing your insights! It’s clear that initiatives like ‘2024 Green Enertech’ not only promote innovation but also foster sustainable economic growth. We look forward to seeing how the event unfolds and impacts the sector.
Dr. Park: Thank you for having me! I’m excited about the potential of these SMEs and the positive change that can emerge from their participation.
