Activation of social agriculture and provision of excellent social services
On the 29th, the Korea Rural Community Corporation signed a business agreement with the Central Social Service Center for ‘activation of social agriculture and expansion of supply of excellent social services’ in rural areas, and announced that it will provide quality social services that rural residents can feel and be satisfied with.
The agreement was created to resolve the problem of insufficient social services in rural areas by activating ‘rural care farms’ and ‘rural resident living care communities’ in rural areas and to provide various services such as care, education, and jobs using agricultural and rural resources to the socially disadvantaged, such as the disabled and the elderly, thereby helping social integration and self-reliance.
According to the agreement, the social service provider will expand the participation in the rural care farm activity program for residents who can participate in outdoor programs at the direct and commissioned institutions operated by the social service provider, and will uphold the purpose of the rural care farm through mental and physical care and healing of the participants. The two institutions plan to explore long-term cooperation projects to activate the rural resident living care community service.
Kim Young-bae, the head of the Korea Rural Community Corporation, said, “Currently, rural areas are facing a super-aging and extinction crisis, and there is a severe shortage of essential social services such as medical welfare and care. Through this agreement, we hope that various service providers, including rural care farms, will cooperate to improve the quality of life of local residents and revitalize rural areas.”
