Accelerating entry into the Southeast Asian market
Korea’s largest pharmaceutical export consultation meeting… Signed at GBPP 2024

United Pharmaceutical Korea has further strengthened its position in the Southeast Asian market by signing a contract to supply osteoporosis treatment with Myanmar pharmaceutical company United MCK. This contract is considered an important milestone in Korea United Pharmaceutical‘s expansion of pharmaceutical exports to the Southeast Asian market.

The contract signing ceremony was held at the GBPP (Global Bio & Pharma Plaza) 2024 event held on the 22nd and 23rd. This event is hosted by KOTRA (Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency), and Korea United Pharmaceutical is actively carrying out global business through KOTRA’s export voucher project and overseas branching project.

Through this contract, Korea United Pharmaceutical exported the osteoporosis treatment ‘Bondex Injection (ingredient name: Ibandronate)’ to Myanmar, laying the foundation for the continuous supply of medicines to Myanmar, which has recently been experiencing political and economic difficulties.

United MCK is a subsidiary of Sakura Hospital Group, which operates three hospitals in Myanmar, and has the infrastructure to stably supply medicines through its own hospitals. This contract is expected to enable Korea United Pharmaceutical to further strengthen its competitiveness in the pharmaceutical market in Myanmar.

Yang Jin-young, managing director of United Pharmaceutical Korea, said, “This contract is an example that proves our competitiveness and the excellence of our products in the Southeast Asian pharmaceutical market. “In the future, we plan to expand exports of various medicines, including contrast media as well as osteoporosis treatments,” he said.

Meanwhile, GBPP 2024 is Korea’s largest pharmaceutical export consultation held by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy together with KOTRA and the Korea Pharmaceutical Import and Export Association. About 150 domestic companies and 100 overseas buyers attended this event and explored various partnerships and export opportunities. Korea United Pharmaceutical’s entry into the Myanmar market is evaluated as the result of active cooperation and networking at such international events.
