Educational support for children from multicultural families who entered the country midway in Gyeongsangnam-do
Projects suspended from government support resumed with support from Korea Zinc
Recruiting 25 children and teenagers every month until November
“We will continue to identify and support vulnerable groups in need of help.”
Korea Zinc is carrying out social contribution activities for mid-immigration multicultural families in Gyeongsangnam-do.
Korea Zinc announced on the 23rd that it is operating a long-term sponsorship program to help children from multicultural families who immigrated to Korea to adapt and live stably in Korean society. In fact, Korea Zinc has continued its relationship for 10 years by sponsoring the activities of the Gyeongnam Migrant Center, which strives to protect the human rights of migrant workers.
This year, we will support Korean language education, field experience activities, and library education for children and teenagers from multicultural families who entered the country midway. Until November, training will be provided for the first 25 people every month without a separate participation fee.
In particular, this project was reportedly carried out by the Gyeongnam Migrant Center as a government subsidy project until last year, but was on the verge of being discontinued due to lack of budget. Accordingly, Korea Zinc stepped in to provide support so that the business could continue.
Children and adolescents who entered the country mid-immigration are those who were born and raised in their home country and then immigrated to Korea with their parents. It is said that they experience greater learning disabilities due to cultural differences and language difficulties and feelings of alienation among peers than teenagers born in other multicultural families in Korea. This educational program, sponsored by Korea Zinc, is operated with the goal of helping children adapt to school and daily life early and creating a sense of homogeneity through interaction with peers.
As part of its corporate social responsibility, Korea Zinc continues to engage in social contribution activities in various fields to support the underprivileged.
An official from Korea Zinc said, “We plan to provide generous support so that children and immigrants in need can feel a sense of belonging in our country and adapt to a warmer environment.” He added, “We will continue to provide support by discovering groups that lack social attention.” “I will try my best,” he said.
