Korea’s media regulator on working visit to HACA

In a press release, the HACA indicates that this visit, which comes at the invitation of its president, Latifa Akharbach, was an opportunity to present the mandate, organization and functioning of the two regulatory institutions as well as the media landscape in Morocco and Korea.

The work of this first bilateral meeting, held on Friday between the HACA and the KCC, in which the general director of the HACA, Benaissa Asloun, and many directors of the Moroccan body participated, focused on issues on the agenda of the two institutions.

The discussions focused on the evolution of the mandate of regulators in terms of representing pluralism, protecting young audiences and combating media content that is detrimental to human values ​​and democratic principles in the traditional and digital media space.

Furthermore, Ms. Akharbach expressed the Moroccan authority’s interest in the KCC’s experience in technological and professional innovation, the press release continued.

The heads of the two regulatory bodies have, to this end, agreed on “the importance of adapting the legal framework, but also the tools and methods of the regulators to supervise, without constraining, freedom of expression, the action of social media platforms, particularly in the context of a rapid evolution of the global digital environment marked, among other things, by the increasingly widespread use of artificial intelligence in the creation and circulation of media content”, adds the same source.

Led by Lee Sang-in, the Korean delegation, composed of many directors and deputy directors of the KCC as well as a representative of the “Korea Internet & Security Agency”, visited the various technical departments and directorates of the HACA. It was subsequently received by the general director of SOREAD 2M, Salim Cheikh, at the channel’s headquarters in Casablanca, it was concluded.
