The Minister of Internal Affairs of Kosovo Djelal Svechlja and his Albanian colleague Taulyant Bala signed today an agreement on joint border control between Kosovo and Albania, KosovaPress reported, quoted by BTA.

The agreement was signed at the Chaf Morina border crossing point (between the Kosovo town of Djakovo and the Albanian town of Bayram Tsuri – note ed.). It will create relief for residents on both sides of the Kosovo-Albanian border, especially in the areas around the border crossings Chaf Morina, Chaf Prushi (between the Kosovo town of Djakovo and the Albanian town of Kukus), Shishchevets (Albania) – Krusevo (Kosovo), Borje – Globochitsa, Orzhost (Orgyost) – Orchush.

According to the Kosovo interior minister, the agreement will ease the passage of citizens of both countries.

The Albanian Minister of the Interior, Taulyant Bala, stated in his turn that by reaching this agreement, the waiting time for Kosovar and Albanian citizens at the border points will be shortened.

He added that the joint border control between the two countries will also contribute to increasing the number of tourists from Kosovo on the Albanian coast.

Bala expressed confidence that this year the number of tourists in Albania will exceed 14 million.
