The Balástya municipal government is part of the Area and Settlement Development Operative Program Plus It won a 100% non-reimbursable grant of 50 million forints in a tender called the development of inland roads. The costs of the project were financed by the European Regional Development Fund and the domestic central budget. The works of the investment were carried out by the contractor selected after requesting three quotations, Közüzemi Szolgáltató Kft. based in Kistelek.
In the project, the renovation and rehabilitation of the aged road surface of Kossuth and Petőfi streets was realized, in a total of 545 meters. As we have already reported, following the public utility developments of the previous years, the pavement of the residential roads cracked and sank, and in order to prevent further deterioration, it became necessary to repave the pavement of the mentioned two streets. The work area was handed over on July 24 and the asphalting was completed by August 31 after the preparatory work phases.
The affected residents have been waiting for the condition of the streets to improve. One of them, who regularly cycles on Kossuth and Petőfi streets, said: the road has become so good that you don’t even have to ride on it, the bike glides on the surface by itself

The expert also reported that the next project will be sidewalk construction, for which they won funding in the Magyar Falu program. In Hunyadi and Árpád streets, the missing sections will be replaced, they will be completed, and a durable concrete sidewalk will be created in these places.
We have already concluded the contract with the contractor, and we hope that the works will start in the fall, and will definitely be completed by mid-December
– said Tímea Péterné Bárkányi, adding that the budget is more than HUF 5 million.
