Kostas PapNikolaou Reflects on Olympic Journey: Proud of Team Greece Despite Quarterfinal Loss to Germany

by time news
Despite the defeat against Germany in the quarter-finals of the Olympic Games, Kostas Papadnikolaou emphasized how proud he feels of every member of the National team, which performed in Lille and Paris, surpassing themselves.

Papadnikolaou’s statements

“The entire road we started in June had tough games and challenges for the team. Despite the elimination and our desire to give a little more to ourselves and the Greek people, to make them feel pride. I am happy and proud of the kids; they all deserve congratulations, to the staff and everyone. Everyone fought for the best possible result. There is a bittersweet feeling, but I will smile because in this tournament against great teams, Greece proved that it can compete.”

I hope we all stay healthy and well, have the best possible material, and with the same unity, try next year to open a chapter to do something good.

When the flag calls you, you must be there; it is a huge pride to compete for your country, and we all understand this in the effort of the kids. We see how much everyone wants it in their respective sports.

I think we deviated a bit from our defensive plan regarding our positions on the court. But we were playing against a very high-quality team; it’s certainly not easy. I am proud of all the kids and the effort we made these two months.”
