This is an inexplicable situation that the citizens of Koumbassayah, a sector of the Gbinkily district, under the sub-prefecture of Mambia, prefecture of Kindia, are experiencing. Surrounded by electricity, the inhabitants of this locality have been in the dark for a long time. This weekend, they went again to the center of Mambia to demand electricity. However, the efforts remain in vain.

According to these residents, for more than 10 years they have been running after local authorities to have electricity in the sector called Koumbassayah, located 2 kilometers from Gbinkily. A situation that worries them especially when seeing electricity around their locality. “We have been here 12 years ago, we come to our authorities so that they help us to have electricity now. When we come to them, they tell us the same thing but no result. We are not far from Gbinkily, there is electricity there. In the neighboring villages, there is electricity, why not here?”, wondered the sector chief of Koumbassayah.

This lack of electricity in Koumbassayah causes enormous difficulties for citizens, especially women, added the head of this locality. “We are suffering from this lack of electricity. Our women want to buy freezers because we grow fruits that need to be refrigerated but unfortunately. Then, we do not know what is happening in our country, we do not have the means to turn on our TVs to follow the news or anything else. What others tell us, that is what we will take into account. That is why we are asking the authorities to help us, to think about this situation that persists especially the president of the republic, General Mamadi Doumbouya. “, he said.
