Koupéla, (AIB)-The governor of the Central East region, Colonel Abdou Karim Lamizana, on Monday September 30, 2024, made a field visit to agricultural production sites in the province of Kourittenga, to immerse himself in realities on the ground and recognition to represent the country’s authorities to all interested parties in rural life.

The trip made by the governor of the Central Eastern region, Colonel Abdou Karim Lamizana, on Monday September 30, 2024, was beneficial to participate in the regional guided tour of the Emergency Project to strengthen agricultural production.

The rice seed production site with an area of ​​more than 6 hectares in the lowlands of Niongretenga, in the commune of Gounghin and the corn production site with an area of ​​1000 m2 in Oualgo, in the commune of Baskoure, are the sites visited by the governor respectively.

For him, after the terrorism, the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traoré emphasized agriculture to achieve self-sufficiency in food.

Thus, farmers from the Central Eastern region, having benefited from free plowing for the first time, showed their bravery.

“Since this morning, we have been filming and I admit that I am very happy. Because we must recognize that the Almighty has blessed us with rain and today along the road, whether it is high or low crops, there is a very satisfactory result. », showed Colonel Abdou Karim Lamizana.

And to continue, “We are in a rice basin where the farmer has planted fragrant rice on more than 6 hectares. Already I can say that in the Middle East region we can feed many families and even help other regions that did not have the opportunity to farm because of the threat of terrorism.”

As a reason for satisfaction, the first regional authority showed the recognition of the highest authorities in the country for these farmers who are not making any effort to save the population from famine and imports.

In addition, she invited leaders and traditional communities to continue fostering a climate of cooperation, understanding and solidarity in order to effectively return to peace.

Niongretenga producer Karim Nassere recognized the government’s efforts to support farmers and its firm desire to achieve food security in the country.

“We benefited from a motorized cultivator and agricultural input thanks to the State subsidy. We are grateful to them for these efforts made on our behalf. However, we always have to go further and why not give a helping hand to the neighbors too,” he said.

According to the regional director in charge of Agriculture, Germain Aimé Traoré, the 2024-2025 agricultural campaign is performing well in the Central East region, thanks to the government’s support as part of the agropastoral and self-aggressive fisheries and above all another. thanks to the commitment of the producers.

“We are here today with the Governor, the first authority in the region in the context of monitoring the agropastoral and fisheries campaign. Our objective was to present the first results of this campaign to the authorities. We are very happy with what we have already seen and we are sure of an increase in agricultural production compared to last year,” said Mr. Traoré.

For this 2024-2025 agricultural campaign, the Mid-East region received 28 tractors that made it possible to carry out more than 3,800 free plowing operations for the benefit of farmers, and the distribution of inputs to farmers.
