Chennai: The footage of former ministers CV Shanmugam and KP Munusamy arguing on the stage of the AIADMK General Committee has been released.
The AIADMK General Committee meeting was held yesterday as scheduled as the High Court gave permission. Palaniswami was selected as the party’s interim general secretary. 16 resolutions were passed in the General Assembly while the High Court judgment was not in favor of OPS. 16 resolutions were passed in the General Assembly including demand for single leadership, Interim General Secretary responsibility, insistence on giving Bharat Ratna to Jayalalithaa, condemnation of DMK.
After the resolution was passed, when everything was going smoothly, there was a sudden uproar in the General Assembly meeting. There were calls to remove OPS from the party itself. Some arguments also took place on the stage regarding this. Then KP Munusamy interrupted and reassured, “Interim General Secretary Edappadi Palaniswami will bring your feelings to a decision. Until then, keep calm.”
After KP Munusamy finished speaking, former minister CV Shanmugam got up and had a sudden argument with him on the stage. Very angry he got up from his seat and came to KP Munusamy’s seat and argued. There was a commotion for a few minutes when CV Shanmugam also argued in response. Edappadi Palaniswami pacified both of them and made them sit down. However, CV Shanmugam sat talking angrily.
Photos and video footage of this are now attracting attention. Questions have arisen including what caused the two to argue on stage. It is noteworthy that CV Shanmugam argued after KP Munusamy said that EPS would bring a resolution to abolish OPS.
