KPK Examines Seven Witnesses Regarding Gratuities of Former North Maluku Governor Abdul Gani Kasuba

FAJAR.CO.ID, JAKARTA — Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigators continue to investigate the alleged gratification case involving former North Maluku Governor Abdul Gani Kasuba (AGK) by examining seven witnesses on Monday (23/9). The examination was conducted at the Ternate City Immigration Office, North Maluku.

KPK Spokesperson Tessa Mahardhika stated that the witnesses were questioned to reveal their roles and knowledge regarding the gratuities received by AGK and the assets owned by the former governor.

“Witnesses are being questioned in relation to their roles and knowledge of the gratification received by the suspect as well as the suspect’s assets,” said Tessa Mahardhika, Tuesday (24/9), quoted from ANTARA.

The witnesses examined consisted of private parties, namely Nasrun Abd. Djabir, Djafar HI. A Gani, Kun Pakaya, Lucky Radjapati, Muhlis Lasende, and Adnan Ahmad Marhaban. In addition, a BRI Link agent named Darwis was also questioned as a witness.

In this case, the Corruption Eradication Committee also summoned AGK’s wife, Faoniah Jauhar, but she did not attend and will be rescheduled.

The case involving Abdul Gani Kasuba has now entered the trial process at the Corruption Crime Court (Tipikor) at the Ternate District Court. The KPK public prosecutor (JPU) demanded a sentence of 9 years in prison and a fine of Rp300 million with a subsidiary of six months in prison for AGK.

AGK was charged with accepting bribes and gratuities totaling Rp109.7 billion, including Rp99.8 billion and 30 thousand Singapore dollars through various accounts, including those owned by his family members and personal secretary. If he cannot pay the compensation of Rp109.056 billion and 90 thousand US dollars, AGK’s assets will be confiscated and auctioned to cover state losses.
