jpnn.com – JAKARTA – Vice President Ma’ruf Amin believes that the shortcomings of the current election organizers need to be fixed immediately.

He said this was in response to the KPU commissioner’s assessment that it was not appropriate to hold the 2024 Pilkada due to the dismissal of Hasyim Asy’ari as a member and chairman of the KPU by the Election Organizer Honorary Council (DKPP).

“I think the existing KPU should be strengthened and things that are still lacking should be corrected, so that the KPU is equipped and strengthened,” said the Vice President in his press statement after inaugurating the Cimanggis-Cibitung Toll Road in Bogor Regency, West Java (Jabar), Tuesday (9/7).

The Vice President is also considering adding KPU members after Hasyim Asy’ari was dismissed from his position as KPU Chairman.

According to the Vice President, holding simultaneous regional elections is the most important thing.

“If necessary, add more. For example, if one of them goes out, add more, but with what we have, I think the implementation of the regional elections is more important,” said the Vice President.

According to the Vice President, the KPU is an agency that works as a team, not individually, so that when an individual from the agency is involved in a case, it does not make the entire agency guilty.

He also said that regional elections are a national agenda so it is impossible to form a new institution to organize simultaneous regional elections.

Vice President Ma’ruf Amin assessed that the shortcomings of the KPU were corrected to answer the KPU’s assessment that it was not worthy of holding the 2024 Pilkada.
