kristoffersen delivered a strong final run and slid in for his 31st World Cup victory in his career.
– I don’t actually think I skied very well, but when you win, you should be very happy, Kristoffersen said to Viaplay.
At teh same time, the winner had a message for those who have doubted him.
– Sit down and close the breadbox.
Kristoffersen’s last regular victory in the World Cup came in Wengen in January 2023. A month later, he secured a World Championship gold in the same discipline in courchevel.
The Rælingen skier improved by one position from the first run on Sunday. Before the final, home hope Steven Amiez was leading by 32 hundredths, but the Frenchman could not defend his position when it mattered moast and skied out early in the final run.
Double Norwegian
Both Timon Haugan and McGrath were in contention for the podium in the final run. There,McGrath performed strongly and finished on the podium,while Haugan dropped several positions.
– I did exactly what I had to do. I really went for it, and it was so much fun to come down to green numbers. I am super proud of how I handled it, McGrath said.
McGrath has three podium finishes so far this season. He placed third in the giant slalom in Sölden, and achieved the same placement in the slalom in Gurgl in November. The Frenchman Clément noël won there, but he injured his ankle on Saturday and was not present for Sunday’s race.
Incredible Braathen Comeback
Lucas Pinheiro Braathen struggled significantly in the first run and was the fifth one out of the start in the final. There, he managed to significantly improve his position on the results list, finishing just off the podium in fourth place.
