In the combined group of F-55/F-56 athletes, the world and Paralympic record holder in the F-55 group, Krūmiņa threw the javelin at a distance of 24.99 meters in the first attempt, becoming the leader and achieving a new Paralympic record.

In the continuation, Krumiņa threw the javelin to a mark of 23.67 meters, in the third attempt – to 23.99 meters, the fourth attempt was not counted, in the fifth attempt the javelin was thrown 23.09 meters, but in the final sixth attempt the result was 24.09 meters.

Brazilian Raisa Roche-Mashad won the silver medal with a throw of 23.51 meters, while Chinese Lin Sitona won the bronze medal with a throw of 22.35 meters.

In total, 12 athletes competed in this combined group.

Krūmiņa, who was one of the Latvian flag bearers at the opening ceremony, already competed in the discus throwing competition in Paris, taking fourth place.

At the Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, she won the javelin throw, and five years later in Tokyo – a bronze medal.

The Paris Paralympic Games will take place until September 8, with Latvians competing in athletics, paralympic dressage, cycling, swimming and shooting.

22 sports are represented at the Paralympic Games, in which about 4,400 athletes compete.
