Krūmiņa started in ninth place and with the 24.31 meters achieved in the third run, she became the vice-leader. In the first and second throw, he threw the disc 23.74 and 23.87 meters, in the fourth and fifth – 20.63 and 22.83 meters, but the last throw was not counted.

Among the other athletes, she was beaten by two other competitors, thus leaving her one and a half meters behind the prize-winning positions.

Erika Maria Castano-Salazar from Colombia became the champion with a throw of 26.70 meters, China’s Donna Feisya was three centimeters closer, while Rosa Maria Guerrero-Casares from Mexico was third with a throw of 25.81 meters.

Of the 13 registered participants, 12 started.

Krūmiņa, who was one of the Latvian flag bearers at the opening ceremony, will also compete in javelin throwing in Paris.

In 2016 in Rio de Janeiro, Krumiņa won gold in the javelin throw and bronze in the discus throw, but in 2021 in Tokyo she won bronze and silver in these disciplines, respectively.

This year’s Paris Paralympic Games will take place from August 28 to September 8, and Latvians will compete in athletics, Paralympic dressage, cycling, swimming and shooting.

22 sports will be represented at the Paralympic Games, in which around 4,400 athletes will compete.
