The losses of the world economy from the pandemic are, according to various estimates, from $ 4 to 10 trillion, the budgets of regions and municipalities will be especially affected, said the head of the Accounts Chamber of the Russian Federation Alexei Kudrin in a video message to the participants of the III International Municipal Forum of the BRICS countries.
According to him, the health and social support systems have also shown unpreparedness for global shocks. Authorities and regulatory agencies must develop mechanisms that will enable these systems to become more sustainable and effective.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, the Accounts Chamber of Russia has been auditing the most affected industries, Kudrin added. The inspections helped to achieve additional accrual of incentive payments to physicians in the amount of 251 million rubles.
The Accounts Chamber, together with partners from other countries, also developed recommendations for increasing the resilience of health and social protection systems.
“The main focus of the recommendations is the implementation and use of data analysis tools and machine learning elements in assessing government policy,” RIA Novosti quotes Kudrin.
In September, Kudrin said that the crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic has not yet ended, although many countries will reach previous GDP levels this year. According to him, the current economic crisis is of a non-standard nature, and therefore it is necessary to be prepared for uncertainty.
At the same time, the Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Maxim Reshetnikov spoke about the “recovery” of the economy.
