Film director Emir Kusturitsa accepted the offer of Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu to take the position of chief director of the Central Academic Theater of the Russian Army. This was reported to journalists on February 21 by the press secretary of the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, Rossiana Markovskaya.

“For me, the offer of Sergei Shoigu to become the chief director of the theater is a great honor. The stage of the theater of the Russian army has a great history and traditions. The creative plans for the new post include transferring the plots of famous films into performances, for example, The Cranes Are Flying, Life Is Like a Miracle, and others,” Markovskaya quoted Minister Markovskaya as saying.

She said that earlier today, Shoigu had a meeting with Kusturica, during which he made him a job offer. He, according to her, accepted it with great gratitude.

Emir Kusturica is a Yugoslav and Serbian film director and film actor who has won awards at major European film festivals, including two Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival.
