Everybody likes mystery and actors want to live in a realm where there is mystery so that everyone is eager to know about them. Actress Nausheen Ali Sardar, who has spent more than two decades in the TV industry, also likes to remain mysterious. This is the reason why only five-six friends know about her fun-loving, flirtatious and partying style. Soon she will be seen as a strong woman in the role of Chandrika Singh Chauhan in the TV show Vasudha. When we met her recently, she talked to us a lot. I wanted to play a complex role like Chandrika for a long time, so I auditioned for it and got selected. It is very difficult to be strict in front of the audience and not look negative. It was a challenge for me, which I accepted and did. Actually, my character struggled a lot and traveled from scooter to helicopter along with her husband. During this time, there were many experiences, which started showing in the speech and gestures of my character. Some will consider it as arrogance, some as power, but it is her earned power. These are all the shades of my character.
I match my character 70 percent. Because of this, it can be said that in the outside world I am just like Chandrika Singh Chauhan. So it was not difficult for me to adopt the toughness of the character in front of the camera. 30 percent of me is that in which I become a 10-year-old girl. However, only five-six close friends are aware of this part of my life. Only they can see my bubbly nature, fun, jokes and partying.
Be a working woman but maintain balance
I think everyone should change with time, but I do not support those who talk about living together without marriage. I consider marriage an important part of life. It is good if everything else is flexible. A person should not lose his character. You can say that it is very important to maintain balance. It is not that if you have become a working woman, you should forget about the house.
I am a bit old school thinking and hence I am selective. I feel if you keep appearing on TV continuously then the audience will get bored of you. It is important to take a break. If you reveal too much about yourself to the world then your mystery factor will go away. It is the mystery factor that makes an actor a star. If the world knows everything about you then you will become common. If they don’t know then they will be impatient. I am from that school that no one should know what is going on in my life. Some people reveal everything about themselves in reality shows which I don’t understand. I always want to remain mysterious.
36 retakes were taken for the abusive scene
I have always been a good student since childhood. Every year I used to get the Best Student of the Year award in school. Mom and Dad never raised their hands but I was afraid of their gaze. If they looked at me, I would understand that I have to stay here. We are five siblings. There is a difference of one year between one of my brothers and me. There is a generation gap of 10-12 years between the rest of the siblings. They were like our parents. In such a situation, we were not even allowed to say shut up. Those childhood things are with me till date. I cannot abuse even today. I had to abuse in one shot. For the first time in my career, I took 36 retakes for it. I could not say anything. When parents instill something in us in childhood, it remains. Papa had said that I trust you, never embarrass me. I think I have made him feel proud.
‘Still compensating for Covid’
I joined the industry when I was 15 years old. I have been here for more than two decades. I have seen the worst time in my career during Covid, when it seemed that the industry would end. At that time many shows were closed. There was a fear that going for shooting might lead to contracting corona. I refused many shows. Many actors left the show. Then the budgets fell. Actors and directors started getting half the money. That time caused us a lot of damage, which we are compensating for till date. It has not yet recovered.
We will present a progressive view in front of the society
Normal society believes that the wife should take care of the house and the husband should go to work. Still, sometimes it happens that the husband takes care of the house and the wife goes to the office. There is nothing wrong in this. This will be seen in our show as well. We can say that we are presenting a progressive view to the society. There is a dialogue in the show, ‘Rajput is not only the one who protects the women of the house but also gives them the courage to go out.’
