Raipur: 13 people arrested in the case of killing Kutiana and burying the body. The police stated that a minor is also among those arrested. The gang killed the elephant by giving it poison. The elephant has been missing since last 18. The accused admitted that they poisoned him the next day. Based on a tip-off, the forest department officials recovered the body from the farm. Paddy was planted in the field where the body was buried to hide what had been done. The forest department registered a case under the Forest and Wildlife Protection Act and started an investigation.
After the disappearance of Kutyana, a herd of wild antelopes had violently invaded the country. A man and three cattle were killed in the attack. In the last three years, 210 people have lost their lives in elephant attacks.
The investigation team said that 12 people including the owner of the farm were arrested. Officials said a 16-year-old was among those arrested. The police are trying to find the main accused, a member of Pasan Janpad Panchayat.
