Baghdad – WAA
The Kuwait Football Association issued a statement announcing the formation of an investigation committee into all the procedures that preceded our national team’s match last Tuesday at Jaber International Stadium. It also announced the suspension of the Secretary-General of the Football Association, Salah Al-Qanaei, from work and his referral to investigation.

The match ended in a goalless draw, which witnessed fainting cases among the fans due to poor organization and hot weather inside the stadium, and the ban on bringing water bottles into the stands.
The statement said:
The Kuwait Football Association expresses its deep regret for the events that occurred in the football match between our national football team and its Iraqi counterpart. We apologize to the fans for the obstacles and impediments they were exposed to during their attendance at this match. Accordingly, the Board of Directors decided in its emergency meeting the following day:
1- Forming an investigation committee to conduct the necessary investigations into all the procedures that took place before the match that led to these unfortunate events.
2- Suspending the Secretary-General of the Union from work and referring him to the investigation committee.
3- Suspending the Director of Public Relations and Media from work and referring him to the investigation committee.
He added, “The Board of Directors of the Kuwait Football Association promises the Kuwaiti fans that legal measures will be taken against those who are negligent and responsible for this chaos that led to these unfortunate and unacceptable events. The Association also announces that the Board of Directors is in a state of continuous session until the committee completes its investigation of its procedures and submits its report to the Board within 48 hours from this date.”
