Kannur: KV Thomas came to the venue to attend the seminar of the CPM party congress in violation of the ban of the Congress leadership. The audience greeted him with applause. In his welcome address, district secretary MV Jayarajan said that KV Thomas had shown courage.
Thomas is attending the seminar despite the ban from the High Command and the state leadership. Earlier, KV had said that the CPM was participating in the party congress as a Congressman. Thomas was responding to reporters.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin will be the chief guest at the seminar. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan are also participating in the seminar.
Opposition leader VD Satheesan said this afternoon that there was still time for KV Thomas to reconsider. VD Satheesan had said that the KPCC president will decide what action will be taken against KV Thomas if he attends the party congress.
The CPM gave a big reception to KV Thomas at Kannur airport yesterday. Kannur District Secretary M.V. Jayarajan and party workers had arrived at the airport to receive him.
