Ministerial post

The President of the Tamil National Federation, R. Advocate General KV Thavarasa has appealed to Sambandhan.

He said that if you have even the slightest intention of becoming a member of the cabinet, I would like to remind you as a Tamilian in the name of the Tamil nation and the sentiments of the entire people to change that immediately.

He said that as the President of the Tamil National Federation, you should not let the last opportunity slip away and try to find a permanent solution acceptable to the Tamil people by conducting negotiations regarding ways to solve the ethnic problem that has not been resolved for 74 years.

Letter to K. V. Thavarasa, I. Sambandhan

“As the leader of the Tamil National Federation, you are at an important stage of taking a decisive decision. You are very well aware of the political crisis that the country is facing now.

As a devotee of Tamil National politics, I have to put a few points before you. Because I consider it a duty towards our people. In case the TNA is invited to support the all-party government, ministerial posts should not be given as a condition, and even if the President offers a ministerial post, you as the TNA leader should reject it.

Because if you accept ministerial posts, it will make a mockery of the aspirations of the Tamil people and question the sufferings and dedications of the people for so long and make a mockery of their rights and existence. Therefore, we strongly believe that you will not do such irresponsible activities as the responsible leader of the Tamil National Federation.

We also hope that you will not make the Tamil people bow down in your last days. As a Tamilian, I would like to remind you in the name of the Tamil nation and the sentiments of the entire people that if you have any thoughts of becoming a member of the cabinet, change your mind immediately.

The reason for making such a request is that a couple of parliamentarians are aspiring for ministerial positions without showing serious interest in national politics and leaving aside Tamil national politics. It is clear from their heartless activities that those parliamentarians should leave the party and fulfill their desires. For that, there is no need to make a mockery of the aspirations of the Tamils, question the long sufferings and dedications of the people, make a mockery of their rights and existence, and backstab the entire people in the name of Tamil nationhood.

The truth is that their conspiracy based on ‘desire and fear’ will surely justify the betrayal of the Tamil nation. You have promised the President that all cooperation will be provided to develop a national all-party programme.

During these talks, the long pending issues of release of political prisoners, abolition of the Terrorism Prohibition Act, justice for the disappeared, prevention of land grabbing, recovery of lands acquired in the exercise of power, removal of military encroachments in the North-East.

It is my request that you as the President of the Tamil National Federation do not miss the last opportunity to find a solution to the Kalmunai Northern Regional Secretariat as soon as possible and to hold talks on ways to solve the ethnic problem that has not been resolved for 74 years and find a permanent solution acceptable to the Tamil people.
