In his previous album, released in 2019, Cinematic, bassist and bass player Kyle Eastwood tackled various film scores. Including some themes from those of his father, Clint. In Symphonic, with pianist Andrew McCormack, trumpeter and bugler Quentin Collins, saxophonist Brandon Allen, drummer Chris Higginbottom and the full complement of the Czech National Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Gast Waltzing, the director’s only filmography and actor is on the program. There are famous tunes (those of Magnum Force [1973] or Inspector Harry [1971]by Lalo Schifrin The good, the bad and the ugly [1966]d’Ennio Morricone [1928-2020], etc.). Other more secret ones, including the moving ones Claudia’s Themecomposed by Clint Eastwood for Ruthless (1992), or Doe Eyes Theme, of On the road to Madison (1995), co-written by the filmmaker with Lennie Niehaus, his composer for nearly twenty years. An association of this excellent jazz quintet – both in the ensemble and solo parts – and the symphonic, a successful balance of the epic and the intimate. Sylvain Siclier

Everything is Alive
Pochette de l’album « Everything is Alive », de Slowdive. DEAD OCEANS/MODULOR

Ride, The Boo Radleys, Moose, Lush… These somewhat forgotten Anglo-Saxon names nevertheless shone in the early 1990s within a psychedelic rock brotherhood with a bit of noise, called “ Shoegaze”, a movement that emerged under the impetus of the unclassifiable album Loveless (1991), from My Bloody Valentine, released on the late Creation label. Considered at the time as a second knife, the Reading (England) band released three albums between 1991 and 1995, which have since become a cult object, both among rock and ambient music lovers. So much so that the original quintet reformed in 2014 and gave birth to a miraculous fourth album three years later (Slowdive), a rare exception in a successful artistic comeback. With Everything is Alivetoday their fifth studio opus, the group, led by singers Neil Halstead and Rachel Goswell, reaches its sonic fullness, a rare depth in the balance of a vaporous pop that is both accessible (the subtle Kisses et Alife) and sophisticated, developing as on Andalucia Plays et The Slab synthetic landscapes with tearful guitars and captivating false tranquility. Pochette de l’album « Chrome Dreams », de Neil Young. REPRISE RECORDS/WARNER MUSIC

Planned by Neil Young to be released in 1977, the album Chrome Dreams had been set aside by the singer, guitarist, pianist, harmonica player and songwriter. The songs of the disc, sometimes reworked, with some additions, are found in other albums (five on the original 33-laps ofAmerican Stars’n Bars (1977), three out of Rust Nevers Sleeps (1979), etc). Several pirate editions have since circulated from a copy of an acetate pressing (disk intended to control the sound quality of the work). This official release improves the sound, already correct on the pirates, presents the album – a mixture of acoustic and electric interpretations with the band Crazy Horse – as it was conceived, with the versions originally planned. Of which Pocahontas (1993) or Powderfinger (1979) by the only Young on acoustic guitar (already revealed in another archival publication, the album Hitchhikerin 2017), Sedan Delivery (1979) on a slower tempo, Hold Back The Tears (1977) in solo.
