‘la Caixa’ Foundation allocates 11 million euros to Galicia in social action

The president of the Council of Galicia, Alfonso Ruedaand the president of the “la Caixa” Foundation, Isidro Fainé, have signed this week a framework agreement that reinforces the collaboration between both institutions in social, scientific, educational and cultural matters. Under this agreement, the entity will dedicate a total of 11 million euros to social action in the community in 2023.

«I am pleased to renew the Foundation’s commitment to Galician society, so dear to us. This agreement allows us to be closer to people, especially those in vulnerable situations,” said the president of the foundation, Isidro Fainé, who explained that the “objective is to work to advance towards a more just and equal society. “that gives more opportunities to those who need it most.” “A social action that ultimately results in an improvement in the quality of life of Galicians,” he added.

For his part, the president of the Xunta thanked “the foundation’s long history of commitment to Galicia and to the Galicians.” Furthermore, he has also highlighted that this type of collaboration “allows us to go where administrations are sometimes not capable and meet the needs of the people who need it most.”

Among the basic objectives set out in the signed agreement, collaboration in improving the living conditions of the most vulnerable children, the elderly and groups with special needs affected by illnesses stands out, as well as the contribution to the well-being of people with disability or at risk of exclusion.

In addition to these lines of action, the agreement also includes actions in the educational, cultural, research and knowledge fields.
