The rivers, With the purpose of strengthening food sovereignty and peasant family farming, the District Directorate of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock of Los Ríos will bring together farmers from the province at the La Fluminense Fair, through the Alternative Marketing Circuits, which seek to generate conditions equitable and lasting for the marketing of their products.

The development of the fair is scheduled for this Thursday, March 28 in the lower part of the MAG Los Ríos District Directorate, located in the city of Babahoyo, Juan X Marcos and Olmedo corner streets.

The objective of this fair is to promote and strengthen alternative marketing models for small producers in public spaces with the offer of local products, through a direct meeting between the producer and the consumer, strengthening food sovereignty and social relations between the countryside and the city.

The small producers that make up this fair are associated and independent and come from different sectors of the cantons: Babahoyo, Montalvo, Urdaneta, Ventanas, Vinces, and will offer a variety of fresh, agricultural and cocoa-based products such as chocolate, coffee , banana, rice, soy milk, fruit jams, honey and its derivatives, sweet and salt snacks, nuts, chifles, drinks from Guayusa and Jamaica, typical food, crafts, legumes, among others.

Juan Lorences, Political Chief of the Babahoyo canton, said “this is an articulated work and as the Government of El Nuevo Ecuador, we support these initiatives, because they are opportunities for farmers to improve their quality of life and ensure their long-term prosperity, giving knowing their products and marketing them directly and fairly.”

Luis Cevallos, District Director of MAG Los Ríos, emphasized that “this fair will bring together a variety of representative products from each area, this will be a space to exhibit the richness and diversity of our fields. With this fair we reaffirm our commitment and encourage the consumption of fresh foods, ensuring that citizens have access to quality nutrition at affordable prices.”

Cevallos added that “the idea of ​​these fairs is to hold them on the last Friday of each month, and we invite producers to join and demonstrate the richness of our land with the marketing of their products.”

The MAG promotes marketing spaces where producers have direct contact with consumers, to avoid intermediaries and thus the producer receives a fair price for the sale of their products.
