Half of the most malarious countries in the world are located in French-speaking Africa (Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Mali, Niger and the Democratic Republic of Congo), where 313 million people are exposed. Pregnant women and young children are also the most vulnerable to this disease. It is estimated that 10,000 pregnant women and 200,000 infants die each year as a result of malaria infection during pregnancy. Since its creation in 2002, the Global Fund has demonstrated its ability to protect those who need it most by developing partnerships closer to the ground. This is why we are calling for the broadest possible mobilization with the Global Fund to continue concrete progress towards universal health coverage for all.
