In issue #605 on Saturday 1st July in the App and Sunday 2nd on the newsstand, director Ferrario investigates endless stories. Digital extra: preview of Tessa Hadley’s novel

In the world of stories, the balance changes: TV series have accustomed us to always waiting for a new season, and there is no longer an “end”: director Davide Ferrario explains it in the new issue of “La Lettura”, #605 , in the App on Saturday 1st July and Sunday 2nd July at the newsstand. The writer Emanuele Trevi and the cartoonist Leo Ortolani also think about it in different fields.

In the issue, there are many interventions on literary themes: Sandro Veronesi, who takes care of the new American series of the «Corriere», talks about the first volume of the series, Vineland by Thomas Pynchon (it will be on newsstands Wednesday 5, 8.90 euros plus the ). And he explains why he portrays America’s loss of innocence in the Reagan 1980s. Of another American voice, the Pulitzer Jean Stafford, in the bookstore with Il puma (Adelphi), writes Cristina Taglietti. Livia Manera writes about the new book by the English Tessa Hadley, Free Love, Bompiani, from 5 July: the incipit of the book is the Theme of the Day for Saturday 1 July in the «La Lettura» App.

In addition to the Theme of the Day and the most recent number of the insert previewed already on Saturdays, the App of «la Lettura» for smartphones and tablets also offers the archive of all the issues released since 2011. Subscribing to the App costs 3 99 euros per month or 39.99 per year, with one week free. The subscription can also be subscribed from the desktop starting from this page. For subscribers, the contents are also visible from PCs and Macs starting from their Profile page. Furthermore, a one-year subscription to the App can be given as a gift via the web from here or by purchasing a Gift Card in Librerie.coop.

In the recent Tasmania (Einaudi), Paolo Giordano has well represented the contemporary dream of distant and uncontaminated places: in the supplement he thinks about his own way of being a responsible tourist, anticipating the intervention he will bring on Wednesday 5 July at the Literature festival in Rome (3-5 -9-11-13 July).

In closing, Alessandro Piperno’s literary journey through the history of the “review”, including Guido Piovene’s ferocious criticism of Italo Svevo: and he reflects on why today the savory taste of stroncatura has been somewhat lost.
