At the foot of the Massif des Maures, in the Côtes-de-Provence appellation area, the La Mascaronne vineyard unfolds its 60 hectares in a sort of amphitheater on the side of the cliff. In this island of preserved nature, where the vines are staged in terraces which culminate at 300 m of altitude, the nights are cool in summer and the sunny days. Ventilated by the mistral, they are naturally protected from diseases and draw all their resources from the clay-limestone soil. Surrounded by hundred-year-old oaks and olive trees, this one-piece vineyard is a small paradise of biodiversity. Conducted according to the rules of organic farming since 2016, it is cultivated in a plot philosophy that allows its owner Michel Reybier to produce identity wines. “Mascaronne represents in my eyes a providential land for the production of excellent rosé wines. The site is preserved, nature and the land are respected,” he explains.

Château La Mascaronne Grande Réserve rosé 2022, first vintage of the estate’s wine of excellence

The first vintage of Château La Mascaronne 2022, the estate’s wine of excellence, pays tribute to its three historic plots:
“Pigeonnier”, “Restanques” and “Château”, cultivated on clay-limestone soils from the Triassic. Here, the oldest grape varieties of the property – Grenache, Rolle and Mourvèdre –, aged 50 years on average, deliver all their delicacy and complexity. Rosé of gastronomy par excellence, the Grande Réserve 2022 has a pale color, a fine and suave nose and structure that will allow it to evolve in the cellar for a few years before being tasted. It now belongs to the category of great terroir rosés alongside Château La Mascaronne rosé, with pink and silver reflections. Fruity and salivating, this wine oscillates between notes of white flowers and citrus, enriched with juicy pineapple.

Michel Reybier joins forces with Tony Parker, international ambassador of La Mascaronne

Since March 2022, a figure in international sport, professional basketball player Tony Parker, has joined the Château La Mascaronne team. “I’m learning the trade alongside Michel Reybier. We have big dreams together, we are going to make La Mascaronne a world reference,” says Tony Parker. Present during the development stages of the 2022 rosé, from harvest to blending, this new ambassador of Château La Mascaronne is working to promote his production across the Atlantic. A know-how of terroir rosés that the visionary Michel Reybier continues to expand. At the end of 2021, he also acquired the Provençal property of La Lauzade, a few kilometers as the crow flies from La Mascaronne, a 45-hectare vineyard, with the ambition of carrying ever further the recognition of the rosés of Provence from land.
