The Undersecretary of the Interior, Manuel Monsalve, was asked if the Colo Colo match for the Copa Libertadores is in danger of being held in the Metropolitan Region.

Colo Colo’s qualification to the quarter-finals of the Copa Libertadores unintentionally affected the Government planning to deal with the XXL holiday of the Fiestas Patrias.

This is because during that week Jorge Almirón’s team will have to play their home match, at the Monumental Stadium, against the winner of the match between River Plate and Talleres de Córdoba.

In light of this, Colo Colo’s leadership will begin efforts to have the match played on Tuesday, September 17, considering the police deployment that will be concentrated on September 18 and 19 in the fondas and ramadas of the capital.

Faced with this scenario, the Undersecretary of the Interior, Manuel Monsalvewas asked if Colo Colo’s Copa Libertadores match is in danger to be carried out in the Metropolitan Region.

“There are sporting activities, not just the Colo Colo game (…) that implies operational plans,” said Monsalve, who made it clear that “So far, no decision has been taken to alter events.”

The Undersecretary of the Interior stressed that the clash between the whites will not be the only football match to be played on those dates, since the Chilean National Team will host Bolivia on September 10 for the South American qualifiers.

“The Presidential Delegation will determine the capacities and conditions, but so far there is no other consideration,” said Manuel Monsalve.
