The director of the National Directorate of Public Procurement (DNCP), Pablo Seitz, hopes that the Ministry of Justice, headed by Alberto Daniel Benítez, will not ignore the institution’s inquiries regarding the protests about the bi-annual bidding for health insurance for G. 68,000 million in order to define continuity, the modification of the specifications or the total suspension of the call.

“We still do not have the response from the Ministry of Justice, there are 5 business days that the public entity has to answer the protest and based on that we will already be able to carry out the analysis in order to determine if the process can continue, either with modifications to the specifications or if it could eventually become necessary to annul the entire procedure,” Seitz said yesterday Friday in an interview with the “Hard to shut up” program broadcast by the GEN/Nación Media channel.

In this regard, he stated that the DNCP made this last Thursday the decision to temporarily suspend the million-dollar tender that is desired to take place less than 30 days before the change of government. The company Cardioteq SA is one of the protesters in the call process.

A problem arises when prison officials remain without coverage since the end of July.

A group of penitentiary officials demonstrated on Friday in the streets of the United States almost Teniente Fariña in the capital, as a claim measure against the position of the National Directorate of Public Contracts (DNCP), consisting of temporarily suspending the tender called by the Ministry of Justice for the contracting of health insurance for an amount of G. 68.900 million.

“From Public Contracts they told us that they will try to resolve the protest for next week in order to continue with this call, but our problem is another, since on July 31 we were left without medical coverage,” said Elizabeth Millán, from the union of Penitentiary Officials and Educational Centers.

In this regard, the DNCP awaits the Ministry of Justice to respond to the institution’s queries regarding the protests regarding the bidding for the biannual contract in order to define continuity, the modification of the specifications or the total suspension of the call.

“Our greatest concern goes beyond the procedures or the interests behind the tender, what we need is to protect our right to health, above all that the process guarantees that the company that is awarded is serious, with sufficient experience and the ability to absorb this portfolio to provide us with quality,” he said in an interview with the “Dos en la ciudad” program of the GEN/Nación Media channel.
