Laayoune: Inauguration and launch of several development projects on the occasion of the Throne Festival

Thus, the wali of the Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra region, governor of the province of Laâyoune, Abdeslam Bekrate, accompanied in particular by the president of the commune, Moulay Hamdi Ould Errachid, consuls general of Arab and African countries accredited to Laâyoune and elected officials, inaugurated and kicked off a series of projects planned in the city of Laâyoune and neighboring communes (El Marsa and Foum El Oued).

In Laayoune, the wali and the delegation accompanying him inaugurated a viaduct on the bypass road of the city of Laayoune, part of the Tiznit-Dakhla expressway, which is part of the new development model of the southern provinces, over a length of 600 m, mobilizing a total amount of 107.6 million dirhams (MDH).

The wali and the delegation accompanying him then inaugurated the large library of the city of Laayoune, with a budget of around 86.6 MDH, including 70.1 MDH dedicated to construction and development and 16.5 MDH for equipment.

Built on an area of ​​23,500 m2, including 5,500 m2 covered, this cultural structure includes in particular an auditorium with a capacity of approximately 450 seats, a reading room, a video library, an exhibition gallery, a space reserved for the press and a multimedia room, in addition to management offices and administrative premises.

They also inaugurated the Al Alaouine square on an area of ​​4,600 m2, with an underground car park (3,800 m2), with a capacity of more than 100 cars, as well as the Oum Saad square on an area of ​​60,000 m2, for a budget of 60 MDH, including among other things green spaces, fountains and play areas, in addition to a skate park.

On the same occasion, the project relating to the rationalization of electricity consumption in Laayoune was launched and the headquarters of the Regional Directorate of Youth and the Al Wahda youth center (over 9.69 MDH) was inaugurated.

In addition, the Wali of the region and the accompanying delegation launched the economic empowerment center for women in precarious situations, carried out in partnership with the wilaya of the region and the Provincial Committee for Human Development of Laayoune.

In addition, they inaugurated a traffic room at the headquarters of the police prefecture of Laayoune, in the presence of the police prefect of Laayoune, Hassan Abou Dahab, whose mission is to monitor and control the situation in the city in an instant.

This modern communications room also aims to improve security interventions, support the fluidity of transport and be able to both respond to emergency calls on line 19 (45 simultaneous telephone calls) and manage police interventions on public roads within the framework of a computerized and operational space.

In the city of El Marssa, the official delegation kicked off construction work on a wastewater treatment plant (WWTP), a project led by the OCP Group, mobilizing a total amount of 110 million dirhams.

Through this unique project, the OCP Group aims to actively participate in the efforts to decontaminate the city of Al Marssa, improve the environment and preserve conventional water resources.

The project, which will last 24 months, will create 50,000 working days and 15 direct positions during the operational phase.

In the same municipality, the laying of the first stone for the construction of a primary school, a sports ground and the equipment of a green space (8.78 MDH), the first phase of an indoor hall (30 MDH) and work to reinforce the 2nd phase of the drinking water supply system of the city of Laayoune (81 MDH) took place.

At the level of the commune of Foum El Oued, the wali and the delegation accompanying him gave the go-ahead for the work of doubling the road linking the commune to the city of Al Marssa. This project will be completed in 12 months for an estimated total cost of 19.79 MDH.

Likewise, they launched construction work on the first phase of the covered market (around 5 MDH) and the municipal hygiene office (940,950 Dhs).

At the same time, work on the first section of the 2nd phase relating to the protection of the Foum El Oued coastline against erosion was launched, for a total amount of 30 MDH.

Furthermore, Mr. Bekrate and the delegation accompanying him proceeded with the inauguration of the local first aid station of the civil protection in Foum El Oued, with a view to ensuring local aid and reducing response times.
