This major work of art, whose launch was given in the presence of the wali of the Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra region, governor of the province of Laâyoune, Abdeslam Bekrate, the director of the provisional management of the RN1 from Tiznit to Dakhla, M’bark Fancha, and elected officials, on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the glorious Throne Day, is part of the major Tiznit-Dakhla expressway project which is part of the new development model for the southern provinces.

Thus, the viaduct over Oued Sakia El Hamra will be built over a length of 1,648 meters and a width of 21.4 meters, with a completion period of 40 months.

This mega bridge which consists of two separate roads with two lanes for each road and a sidewalk for pedestrians, meets all safety and environmental sustainability standards.

This major work will mark the region by its scale and will strengthen the road infrastructure, thus ensuring the fluidity of traffic to and from the southern provinces, especially since it will connect the Kingdom to its African depths.

The bypass of the city of Laayoune by means of this work on Oued Sakia El Hamra will also make it possible to avoid any disruption to traffic due to flooding of Oued Sakia El Hamra and to improve road safety and the environmental aspect of the city of Laayoune.

In a statement to the press, Mr. Baraka stressed that the viaduct on Oued Sakia El Hamra is the largest in Morocco, noting that it will improve road safety indicators and services provided to road users.

Mr. Baraka also indicated that the Tiznit-Dakhla expressway, which is part of the new development model of the southern provinces of the Kingdom, contributes to strengthening socio-economic dynamics and encourages investments in the southern regions.

In this wake, he said that the different axes of the Tiznit-Dakhla expressway were built by Moroccan companies at the local, regional and national levels, adding that a Moroccan company was responsible for the construction of this viaduct on Oued Sakia El Hamra.

At the same time, explanations were provided to the Minister and the delegation accompanying him on the progress of the Tiznit-Dakhla expressway project, which is in its final phase, recording a progress rate of more than 97%, i.e. 980 kilometers of the expressway and 15 major engineering structures opened to traffic.

Similarly, the delegation received explanations on the different axes of this mega project, namely the Tiznit-Guelmim axis which extends over 114 kilometers with an investment of 2 billion dirhams, the progress rate of which is 87%.

Concerning the Guelmim-Laayoune axis, which extends over 441 km, for a cost of 6 billion dirhams, the works have been completed and the axis was recently opened to traffic, while the works have been completed for two years at the level of the Laayoune-Dakhla axis, over a length of 500 km, requiring a total investment of 1 billion dirhams.

It should be recalled that the Tiznit Dakhla expressway project, which extends over 1,055 km and whose construction cost amounts to approximately 10 billion dirhams, constitutes a structuring lever for the economic and social development of the southern provinces of the Kingdom.
